HAVANA 1929
Onboard Kungsholm to Havana



A cruise onboard Kungsholm to Havana Cuba 1929, a passenger liner owned and operated by the Swedish Amerika Line MS Kungsholm from 1928 to 1941 on transatlantic services from Gothenburg to New York. It was built at the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg, Germany. The film shows a Havana during the project to expand and beautify the city under the government of Gerardo Machado. The French landscaper Jean Claude Nicolas Forestier was invited by Carlos Miguel de Céspedes, the Minister for Public Works, to redesign all public and civic spaces for the new modern metropolis Havana of the 1920’s.
